One of the many privileges of my role is working with, and supporting, the many migrant communities in the City. Last month, together with the Mayor, Cllr Asaduzzaman, I attended a joint Eid & Bangladesh Independence Day celebration at the Old Boat Community Centre in Patcham. And last Sunday I attended a ‘Migrant Mass’ at St Josephs Catholic Church at the bottom of Elm Grove. Hosted by Bishop Richard Moth, this was the first annual ‘Migrant Mass’ to take place outside London and an opportunity to reflect on the talents and richness that migrants bring to our city and wider region.
