Paul Hartley

Local resident Paul was raised on a diet of pop music from the 1960's. Put off learning the piano when he was 6, he took up the guitar aged 14. One day during the summer holidays, he bought a book of chords, sat on his bed and strummed an E major. It sounded terrible. He then realised that because he was left-handed, the strings were the wrong way around.

He now has a small studio at home where he records songs, themes, and orchestral pieces. He has also composed for a documentary, a ballet and specific audition pieces for choreography.  He plays the guitar OK, and keyboards badly. He even had one of his songs played on 107 Meridian FM when it reached the semi-finals of the UK Song Writing Contest a few years ago.

Listen to Paul every Wednesday at 10am to 12 noon.
